I started IDC because local businesses around Swindon needed a reliable source for power transmission and conveyor spares — and I wanted to be that person. That commitment to solving real problems led me into bespoke design and manufacture, because no two businesses, and no two conveyor systems, are ever quite the same. Our reputation in the parcel handling, catalogue and logistics markets wasn't an accident — it came from consistency and genuinely caring about getting the engineering right. That's the foundation IDC is built on. Now, seeing two of my sons take the business forward with that same enthusiasm and a fresh eye for innovation, I'm confident IDC's future is in good hands.

A Proven Track Record Since 1983
Founded in 1983 by Daniel Perchard, IDC—formerly I.D.C. (Industrial Drive Components)—began in a Swindon facility, supplying components for driven machinery.
By 1994 IDC had become IDC Conveyor Engineering, taking the knowledge and history of parts supply and applying that in developing conveyor and material handling design, manufacture and installation with some of the first projects being for UPS in East Midlands Airports 1994 and then a further 7 projects for UPS in 1995 across both the U.K and France. By the 2000’s IDC had grown from a specialist engineering business into a trusted conveyor partner operating across the UK, Europe, and beyond. By this time manufacture had moved to a site in Kemble Airfield and Cirencester.
Today, we operate from our headquarters in South Cerney, where our design, manufacturing, and operations teams work together under one roof, giving us full control over quality, delivery, and project outcomes.
With projects delivered in over 20 countries and a large proportion of our work outside the UK, we bring both local responsiveness and international capability.
