Project Location: Sheffield, Yorkshire, UK
Target Industry: Logistics / Post & Parcel
IDC Conveyors worked on this project with the customer from the very beginning at the design phase to create a logistics conveyor system tailored to their operating requirements and package throughput at their new premises in Sheffield, Yorkshire.
The system was designed to unload and load up to seven lorries and 60+ delivery vans at a time. With 1.5m wide transport conveyors the customer can meet their high package throughput figures, with built in allowance for future expansion. This allowance provides longevity and sustainability to the system with the possibility of expanding the conveyor system to feed a greater number of delivery vehicles without having to alter or replace the core of primary transport conveyors.

Packages an hour
Not only did IDC design, manufacture, install and commission the new conveyor system but also all the additional warehouse equipment and structures needed to sort the parcels efficiently and safely. This includes telescopic unloaders, mezzanine floors, platforms, stairs, slides, spiral chutes and cages. As with every project IDC conducts, maintenance and reliability plays a massive part from the very beginning in the design phase.
The project was designed with high level maintenance platforms and access ladders to service all the necessary mechanical parts. As well as this IDC provided a comprehensive range of conveyor spares to store on site, having these spares on site minimises downtime when maintenance is required. The system was designed using high end, quality motor gearbox units, bearings and conveyor belt. With premium components integrated we experience long lasting, strong machines with very low service factors.
